DISABILITY IS NOT INABILITY

Evelyn Awuzuyo is a 17 year old Girl born in Arua District in the Northern part of Uganda. She is an active CHRISC Member with a strong passion to develop other youths in her local group. With Evelyn, Disability has never been a huddle to impede her from inventing and exploring her talents.
If not approached to, you can hardly tell that she is such a brilliant and curious person with a strong sense of humor. She was crippled by cerebral malaria when she was young at the age of 3. Since then, life has not been simple for her, she has been isolated in the community something that forced her at one point to drop out of school.
A few years went by; she was persuaded to go back to school but this time with a lot of care and support from parents and teachers.  With God’s grace the young girl managed to complete Primary level. Very ambitious and intent on becoming one of the change agents in Arua community, she joined CHRISC a year later. With a lot of constancy, Evelyn started on daily basis getting engaged in CHRISC activities like singing and Bible sharing.
Surely, the girl enriched these two programs because of the talent and enthusiasm she posses and as of now, many members are so proud of her and was even ascended to a leadership position in her local group.

During Kicking Aids Out District Peer Leader Training in Arua 9th-11th March, I managed to identify this young girl as a potential and a role model to the young ones in the community. She was given a chance to represent her group during group work and perfectly, intelligibly and audibly the girl convinced everyone in the room that she can make it to the same level like any other person without disabilities.

Though crippled but she is such a person who is always determined to face challenges. With a rapture on her face, she affirmed us about her desires and ambitions in regards to Kicking Aids Out Peer Leader development. With all support and venerate from Arua CHRISC members she desires to become a change agent in the community and an LL2 in CHRISC Uganda

Regardless of who she is and the meager body capacity she posses, at one time she will full fill her desires. She is a leader with a strong zeal an enlightened approach towards youth development.
If given chance and ample mentorship, am also sure of her personal development and looking forward to seeing her as an asset in the program in Uganda.
It’s Our humble appeal to all in the Kicking Aids Out Network to always give chance to such people, they are part of us and assets to our Organizations. Heartwarming, the girl’s assertiveness and readiness to explore her talents attracted us to include her on the list of those ones to train in May this as LL1 in Kampala.

thank you.

Manual Implementation

CHRISC Uganda had its first HIV/AIDS Manual implementation training held at Hotel Spacious Kampala. It was an eye opener to  CHRISC stakeholders on how to use and give feedback about the manual.
 It had District Coordinators and program managers who are too obliged to train and take through other concerned persons in their respective Districts.The Training had the following objectives;
To orient District Coordinators about the use of the manual and To equip program managers with necessary skills of implementing it and getting feedback from them.

He Needs Help!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a good training that manifestation the future of the HIV/AIDS program in CHRISC Uganda. Different from other manuals that we have been using, it will greatly rely on the Christian values

The Manual emphasizes on good Samaritan and today's HIV/AIDS
Situation. its important to note that the Samaritan acted out of compassion and according to God’s will, there by fulfilling the command, “love your neighbor  as yourself.

we are talking about the HIV/AIDS problem, causes, prevention and care for infected and affected people.you'll realize that the robbers  attacked the stranger the way HIV or the death of realative attacks innocent people.like many people today, the priest and the teacher of the law did not care at all.wheather the stranger was dead or a live .what was important was their own way.

The challenge today is wheather we will find enough good Samaritans who care as the one in the picture. Many people are suffering and they need help.Thank you.
