On Saturday 9th March 2011, CHRISC Ndejje had tree Planting and Town Clwean up in Kabembe Local group. As an implementation of what was planned to be done this year, we decided to go to Kabembe, the newest Local group in the District that replaced CHRISC Kalasa. People of Kabembe were very happy to have CHRISC operating in their area,

what pleased us was the willingness of all age category to participate in the exercise. Esipecially the old people looked at it as a blessing to have the organization and they anticipate to get good results in terms of having their children's standards up lifted.
We managed to register 35 youths, and 15 parents, this is a manifestation that CHRISC is making an impact in the District. After treeplanting, we also held a talk show about HIV/AIDS. It was rilly a good time to be in Kabembe for, the hospitality exhibited projects the good future for the development of the Organization .

Indeed, its s collective responsibility for all stake holders in the community to preserve and conserve our Environment. Kids too, took part in the exercise.

No matter how hungry these Guys may look to be, their ambition to kick HIV/AIDS Out of Africa has never been impeded. They too are compassionately willing to join hands with other change agents to impact change in their communities.”
Regardless of whom they are, they are much aware that keeping Ugandan Youths safe from the epidemic is a collective responsibility for every stakeholder.
Those seem to be some of the words by the CRO Guys below who partly attended our Kicking Aids Out Peer Leader Training in Mbale. Kicking Aids Out Department held Peer leader trainings that ran for four weeks across all Districts in the country. We started with CHRISC Ndejje on 5th-6th March, Arua 9th-11th March, Mbale 17th-18th March, Kisoro 25th-26th March, Kabale 26th-27th March, Masaka 28th-29th and Kampala 2nd-3rd March 2011.
These trainings were conducted with an aim of;
Identifying potential peer leaders for the program and make follow up on those ones trained last year

These trainings had 134 participants in all Districts from whom we managed to select 29 who will be seriously followed up for a period of 3 months. In terms of giving them post training activities, we be able to upgrade and certify the ones proved to be potential who at a later stage may be at the end of the year hopefully, will be trained as LL1s.Generally, the training was a success, we managed to introduce the program to Districts like Arua where it had never existed before, we found Arua youths very hospitable and enthusiastic. We believe if the District leadership gives them chance to exercise what was learnt, it will be a success and within no time they will be on the same line just like some other Districts where the program has been operating for some years.

I would like to extend my thanks to all District Coordinators, participants, Instructors and the National Office for the support, you in put is greatly valued, without you, we would not be where we are. Your passion towards our development is sure a good complement to empowerment.
Thank You.

DISABILITY IS NOT INABILITY

Evelyn Awuzuyo is a 17 year old Girl born in Arua District in the Northern part of Uganda. She is an active CHRISC Member with a strong passion to develop other youths in her local group. With Evelyn, Disability has never been a huddle to impede her from inventing and exploring her talents.
If not approached to, you can hardly tell that she is such a brilliant and curious person with a strong sense of humor. She was crippled by cerebral malaria when she was young at the age of 3. Since then, life has not been simple for her, she has been isolated in the community something that forced her at one point to drop out of school.
A few years went by; she was persuaded to go back to school but this time with a lot of care and support from parents and teachers.  With God’s grace the young girl managed to complete Primary level. Very ambitious and intent on becoming one of the change agents in Arua community, she joined CHRISC a year later. With a lot of constancy, Evelyn started on daily basis getting engaged in CHRISC activities like singing and Bible sharing.
Surely, the girl enriched these two programs because of the talent and enthusiasm she posses and as of now, many members are so proud of her and was even ascended to a leadership position in her local group.

During Kicking Aids Out District Peer Leader Training in Arua 9th-11th March, I managed to identify this young girl as a potential and a role model to the young ones in the community. She was given a chance to represent her group during group work and perfectly, intelligibly and audibly the girl convinced everyone in the room that she can make it to the same level like any other person without disabilities.

Though crippled but she is such a person who is always determined to face challenges. With a rapture on her face, she affirmed us about her desires and ambitions in regards to Kicking Aids Out Peer Leader development. With all support and venerate from Arua CHRISC members she desires to become a change agent in the community and an LL2 in CHRISC Uganda

Regardless of who she is and the meager body capacity she posses, at one time she will full fill her desires. She is a leader with a strong zeal an enlightened approach towards youth development.
If given chance and ample mentorship, am also sure of her personal development and looking forward to seeing her as an asset in the program in Uganda.
It’s Our humble appeal to all in the Kicking Aids Out Network to always give chance to such people, they are part of us and assets to our Organizations. Heartwarming, the girl’s assertiveness and readiness to explore her talents attracted us to include her on the list of those ones to train in May this as LL1 in Kampala.

thank you.

Manual Implementation

CHRISC Uganda had its first HIV/AIDS Manual implementation training held at Hotel Spacious Kampala. It was an eye opener to  CHRISC stakeholders on how to use and give feedback about the manual.
 It had District Coordinators and program managers who are too obliged to train and take through other concerned persons in their respective Districts.The Training had the following objectives;
To orient District Coordinators about the use of the manual and To equip program managers with necessary skills of implementing it and getting feedback from them.

He Needs Help!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a good training that manifestation the future of the HIV/AIDS program in CHRISC Uganda. Different from other manuals that we have been using, it will greatly rely on the Christian values

The Manual emphasizes on good Samaritan and today's HIV/AIDS
Situation. its important to note that the Samaritan acted out of compassion and according to God’s will, there by fulfilling the command, “love your neighbor  as yourself.

we are talking about the HIV/AIDS problem, causes, prevention and care for infected and affected people.you'll realize that the robbers  attacked the stranger the way HIV or the death of realative attacks innocent people.like many people today, the priest and the teacher of the law did not care at all.wheather the stranger was dead or a live .what was important was their own way.

The challenge today is wheather we will find enough good Samaritans who care as the one in the picture. Many people are suffering and they need help.Thank you.

SUCCESS STORY!!!!!!!!!

In October 2008 CHRISC Uganda initiated a partnership with St. Martins Primary
School in Mulago. This was started as a pilot to empowering youth in school through
sports activities.
The main objective of the school program was to develop and expose talents through
routine trainings and participation in leagues and tournaments. The other was to
impart life
skills amongst the pupils through movement games and share timely information
about
HIV/AIDS.
Namutosi Agnes (In picture) is a P.7 pupil at this School who has benefited a lot from
the CHRISC activities in St. Martins Primary School. She lives with only her mother in
Nsooba zone in Mulago East. Namutosi is the last born of the 6 children at home, she
is born on the 15th December 1998.
Namutosi has participated in CHRISC activities since P.5 when CHRISC work started
in the school. She points out the following achievements when interviewed “I have
developed my soccer skills, learnt how to behave well with my friends at school,
towards the teachers and my mother at home. I have also learnt the need to work with
others in a team. Participating in the just concluded East Africa Cup has enabled me
make new friends from Tanzania, Rwanda and even other parts of Uganda”.
The school has also expressed the achievements of CHRISC. The school head teacher
Mr Lubyayi Charles in an interview had this to say about CHRISC “We as a school are
very grateful to CHRISC, attendance of pupils has gone up ever since CHRISC
activities started in 2008. We are now the sports power in Kawempe division, we
emerged as football champions in the inter school football champions in the division
this year. This is mainly attributed to CHRISC work in this school. Talents have been
developed and exposed through participation in international events like the East
Africa Cup. CHRISC work has also improved performance of pupils in class, after a
sports activity they appear fresher and focused to learn”.
Pupils like Namutosi are helped to develop their talents and exposed through routine
trainings and participation in leagues and tournaments. As a result they are able to
learn from one another, make friends through interactions and make better decisions
for their future.
